Weekly Highlights of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research witnessed a week full of activities and achievements, as it continued implementing its strategy to develop the higher education and research system, through high-level meetings and initiatives aimed at enhancing education quality, supporting applied research, and expanding international cooperation.

The Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Abdelaziz Qansoua, held a joint meeting with the Minister of Health to discuss a national strategy for training medical professionals, in line with the state’s efforts to improve healthcare services and develop university hospitals as a key pillar in the healthcare system.

In another meeting with the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, the Minister highlighted the Ministry’s vision to position Egypt as a regional and global hub for higher education, research, and innovation, while strengthening the knowledge-based economy and aligning education outcomes with labor market needs.

Egypt also achieved notable progress in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, with 21 Egyptian universities ranked across 42 disciplines, reflecting continuous efforts to enhance academic reputation and research quality.

The Minister met with leading international partners, including the Magdi Yacoub Foundation, the United Nations Development Programme, and a Spanish delegation from IE University, to expand cooperation in research, innovation, and international academic partnerships.

A major scientific milestone was announced by Mansoura University, with the publication of groundbreaking research in the prestigious journal Science, highlighting Egypt’s growing role in global knowledge production.

The Minister also held meetings to strengthen cooperation in intellectual property, support innovation, and develop nursing education and training, emphasizing the importance of linking education, research, and healthcare to national development priorities.

These efforts reflect the Ministry’s commitment to advancing higher education, empowering researchers, and supporting Egypt’s transition toward a knowledge-based economy.
