• Emergency Departments Receive 59,649 Cases and Outpatient Clinics Serve 144,930 Patients
• 9,598 Dialysis Sessions, 2,788 Gastrointestinal Endoscopies, and 1,268 Cardiac Catheterization Procedures Performed
• International Accreditations, Global Recognition for the Stroke Unit, and New Expansion Projects Enhance the Quality of Healthcare Services
As part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s ongoing efforts to enhance the performance of university hospitals and improve healthcare services for citizens, Suez Canal University Hospitals continued to achieve remarkable progress during the 2025/2026 fiscal year across clinical and diagnostic services, institutional accreditation, infrastructure development, and international recognition, further strengthening their position as one of the leading medical and educational institutions serving the Canal and Sinai region.
Prof. Nasser Saeed Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, affirmed that the university hospitals continue to play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to the community. He noted that the achievements realized during FY 2025/2026 reflect the success of the University's strategy for developing its healthcare system in line with the vision of Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to advance university hospitals, improve healthcare quality, expand specialized medical services, and strengthen medical education and scientific research.
The University President explained that key performance indicators demonstrate the efficiency of the university hospitals' healthcare system. During the fiscal year, the hospitals performed 6,689 surgical procedures, while emergency departments received 59,649 patients. Outpatient clinics recorded 144,930 visits, inpatient departments admitted 2,504 patients, and intensive care units treated 3,317 patients. In addition, the hospitals delivered 9,598 hemodialysis sessions, performed 2,788 gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures, and conducted 1,268 cardiac catheterization procedures. Laboratory services also completed 1,451,224 medical tests, reflecting the hospitals' advanced clinical, technical, and operational capabilities.
He added that the University achieved significant progress in quality assurance and accreditation. The Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center and the Main Family Medicine Center both received full three-year accreditation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) after successfully meeting all quality and patient safety standards. Meanwhile, Suez Canal University Specialized Hospital successfully renewed its preliminary accreditation for a second consecutive year, underscoring the effectiveness of the University's continuous quality improvement strategy.
Prof. Mandour also highlighted that Suez Canal University Hospitals continue to lead Egyptian university hospitals as the first to join Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System. Full operation of primary healthcare and family medicine services has commenced at the Main Family Medicine Center, enabling citizens to access medical consultations, laboratory and radiology services, prescribed medications, specialist referrals, and Universal Health Insurance card registration procedures in one integrated location.
He further emphasized that the University remains committed to implementing its comprehensive hospital development plan through continued infrastructure modernization projects. These include the construction of a new outpatient clinics building, completion of the neonatal intensive care unit expansion, renovation of the Women's Emergency Department and emergency operating theaters, and continued development of inpatient wards, the Pediatric Medicine and Surgery Hospital, the Emergency Unit, and the Burns Unit. These projects are expected to expand service capacity and further improve the quality of healthcare delivered to patients.
In the field of oncology, the Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center received 11,398 patients between 1 June 2025 and 30 June 2026, providing 2,809 chemotherapy treatments and 6,104 radiotherapy sessions. The university hospitals also continued implementing the University's Golden Jubilee initiative, "Treatment is a Right for Everyone," which provided free medical treatment and surgical procedures for 300 patients across multiple specialties, including all required diagnostic tests and laboratory investigations at no cost.
At the international level, the Stroke Unit at Suez Canal University Hospital achieved another major milestone by earning Diamond Status in the WSO Angels Awards 2025, reinforcing its position among the world's leading stroke care centers.
For his part, Prof. Ahmed Anwar Abdel Ghani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, stated that the achievements realized during the fiscal year reflect the dedication of the hospitals' multidisciplinary teams, their commitment to continuously improving healthcare services, and their adherence to the highest standards of quality and patient safety. He affirmed that the university hospitals will continue expanding specialized medical services, upgrading infrastructure, strengthening institutional accreditation, and aligning their healthcare, educational, and research activities with the latest international standards.
