Minister of Higher Education Reviews Report on the Performance of Technological Universities

Minister of Higher Education Affirms:

Dr. Abdelaziz Qansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Ahmed El-Gioushy, Secretary of the Supreme Council for Technological Education, on the performance of technological universities during the recent period.

Dr. Qansoua emphasized the importance of technological education as a vital educational pathway for supplying the labor market with well-trained technological professionals, and for preparing graduates capable of meeting the demands of local, regional, and international markets.

The Minister explained that technological universities primarily focus on the application and utilization of technology to serve society, equipping students with the necessary technological skills, expertise, and competencies across various disciplines. He noted that these universities offer a wide range of modern academic programs designed to meet the needs of industry and society.

He added that the number of technological universities has reached 14, including: New Cairo Technological University, Beni Suef Technological University, Delta Technological University, Samannoud Technological University (Quesna), Taiba Technological University (Luxor), Borg El Arab Technological University, New Assiut Technological University, 6th of October Technological University, East Port Said Technological University, Helwan Technological University, Fayoum Technological University, Assiut International Technological University, in addition to Saxony Egypt University for Applied Sciences and Technology, and El Sewedy Technological University.

The Minister reviewed the key academic specializations offered by these universities, totaling 29 fields, including: food manufacturing technology, electrical and electronic devices technology, power transmission and distribution networks, wood industries technology, mechatronics, autotronix, mold production technology, new and renewable energy, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, railway technology, spinning and weaving machinery operation and maintenance, petroleum technology, ready-made garments technology, industrial process control, electrical technology, agricultural machinery and tractors, ship operation and maintenance, information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, hospitality services technology, food and beverage services, tourism and travel technology, dental prosthetics, healthcare technology, health informatics, pharmaceutical industries technology, and prosthetics and orthotics technology. He noted that the total number of programs offered by technological universities has reached 68.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed El-Gioushy stated that academic programs in technological colleges are designed based on accurate studies of labor market needs, noting that these universities are equipped with modern laboratories and workshops utilizing the latest global systems. This provides an integrated educational experience based on practical and applied training through partnerships with industrial and production institutions.

He also pointed to the noticeable increase in student enrollment in technological universities, reflecting a growing societal orientation toward technological education and increasing confidence among students and parents in this promising educational pathway. He added that the coming period will witness further international partnerships between Egyptian technological universities and their global counterparts, contributing to knowledge exchange and enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that technological universities represent a fundamental pillar in the development of the higher education system, as they contribute to preparing qualified technological cadres with advanced practical skills that meet labor market needs. He highlighted their role in linking theoretical study with practical training within factories and companies, thereby enhancing graduates’ readiness and reducing the gap between education outcomes and development requirements.

He added that technological universities play a significant role in supporting the State’s plans to transition toward a knowledge- and industry-based economy, by focusing on modern specializations and advanced technologies, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship among students, and contributing to improving productivity and service quality, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.
