Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities; Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, Head of the Nursing Syndicate; and Dr. Soheir Badr El-Din, Head of the Nursing Sector at the Supreme Council of Universities.
The meeting addressed ways to develop the capabilities of nursing graduates from Egyptian universities and enhance the efficiency of nursing staff in university hospitals.
The Minister emphasized the critical importance of the nursing sector within the university hospital system, noting that advancing this sector is a key component of the Ministry’s plan to improve the quality of healthcare services provided.
Prof. Dr. Konsowa also highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to improving the level of healthcare in university hospitals, in line with the state’s direction to support and enhance services provided to citizens.
He explained that the current phase is witnessing significant upgrades to the infrastructure of university hospitals and improvements in their operational efficiency, alongside strengthening digital transformation and implementing smart services to streamline procedures and improve performance quality. He also pointed to the importance of supporting continuing medical education and linking healthcare systems with scientific research and innovation.
The Minister discussed with attendees the importance of qualifying and training nursing staff through advanced educational programs aligned with international standards, contributing to improved performance within university hospitals and ensuring the delivery of comprehensive, safe, and high-quality healthcare services that meet citizens’ needs.
The meeting also addressed the organization of specialized training programs and continuous professional development programs for nursing staff as part of efforts to enhance their professional competencies.
In addition, discussions covered the provision of specialized training programs for students of nursing faculties, ensuring the graduation of highly qualified cadres capable of meeting the growing demands of the labor market in the nursing sector, in line with its vital role within the healthcare system.
