Under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Electronics Research Institute (ERI) and Jet In Technology, the authorized agent of SpinQ International, on the sidelines of the AI Everything Summit. The MoU aims to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and robotics, as well as implementing specialized training programs to develop national competencies. This initiative is part of Egypt’s broader efforts to deepen technological industries, enhance the national digital infrastructure, and build national capacities in information technology, thereby supporting innovation and digital transformation.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Sherine Moharram, Director of the Electronics Research Institute, and Eng. Mohamed Nasr, CEO of Jet In Technology. Both parties emphasized that the MoU represents an important step toward implementing joint initiatives and projects in quantum computing and AI, as well as organizing specialized events and workshops to raise awareness about quantum computing technologies. The MoU also provides access to a 25-qubit quantum processor from SpinQ to support applied scientific research.
Dr. Sherine Moharram noted that the agreement aligns with the efforts of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Electronics Research Institute to implement the mechanisms of the National Quantum Computing Strategy, under the mandate of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. She emphasized that this collaboration comes at a critical time, requiring institutional efforts to keep pace with rapid advancements in quantum computing. She added that the Institute is committed to training national talents and localizing advanced digital technologies through effective partnerships with leading entities, including Jet In Technology, which brings extensive expertise in developing human capacities within this vital sector.
Dr. Moharram also highlighted that the MoU forms part of ERI’s broader efforts to qualify human resources in the technology sector and to gain exposure to the latest global digital practices, contributing to cybersecurity and addressing potential information threats.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Nayer Wanas, Professor in the Department of Informatics Research; Dr. Nahid Tawfiq, Researcher at the Biomedical Engineering and Systems Lab; Dr. Maha Mataw, Researcher at the High-Performance Computing and Big Data Lab; and Eng. Mostafa Metwally and Eng. Heba Allah Magdy from the Institute’s Legal Department.
It is noteworthy that the AI Everything Summit was held this year from February 11–12 and is one of the largest conferences and exhibitions focused on artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the region. The summit attracted high-level participation from government officials, decision-makers, global technology company leaders, and AI experts from Egypt, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
The conference also launched the Sovereign AI Summit, which focuses on building national AI systems, enhancing data sovereignty, developing digital infrastructure, and establishing responsible AI governance, supporting economic growth, sustainability, and trust in technology.
