Ain Shams Medical City is advancing rapidly to become a leading model for healthcare and medical education in Egypt.
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, toured several educational and medical development projects at Ain Shams University on Sunday morning. The visit was attended by senior officials from the Ministry, the University, and the university hospitals.
The Minister began his tour with a visit to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub (i-HUB) at the university campus, where he reviewed the facilities and technology-equipped halls designed to support innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital learning.
The tour also included a visit to Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, where the Minister inspected the outpatient clinics and a number of service units providing healthcare to citizens. He was briefed on the hospital's medical services and reviewed recently completed projects that have been put into operation to enhance healthcare delivery and improve the quality of medical services.
The Minister then visited Ain Shams Medical City to monitor the progress of ongoing development projects and review the latest upgrades implemented across the university hospitals. The inspection included the main entrances, Arab El-Mohamady Garden, site development works, the Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center, the Radiation Therapy Unit, the Ain Shams Medical Research Center (MASRI), the Central Blood Bank, the Specialized Children's Surgery Hospital, the New Emergency Hospital, as well as the Simulation Center and the Central Computer Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa praised the extensive modernization and development projects being implemented across the University's academic, research, and service sectors, emphasizing that these efforts reflect the University's commitment to enhancing the quality of education and improving services provided to students, researchers, and the wider community. He also commended the University's distinguished academic expertise and highly qualified faculty members, whose contributions continue to strengthen the higher education and scientific research system while supporting community development.
The Minister stressed that these projects are part of the State's comprehensive strategy to continuously expand and modernize university infrastructure in line with Egypt's sustainable development goals, providing an integrated educational environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and excellence, under the continued support of the political leadership for the higher education and scientific research sector.
He further noted that the expansion of university infrastructure is progressing alongside the qualitative development of academic and research programs, enhancing the University's competitiveness, improving the quality of its educational and research outcomes, and reinforcing its role in serving society and contributing to sustainable development.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen affirmed that Ain Shams University continues to implement an ambitious plan to develop Ain Shams Medical City in accordance with the highest international standards. He noted that these efforts support the Egyptian State's vision to improve healthcare services and provide advanced medical care for Egyptian citizens while strengthening the national healthcare system and contributing to sustainable development goals.
The University President added that Ain Shams University remains committed to enhancing the status of Ain Shams Medical City as one of Egypt's largest and most advanced university medical cities, equipped with state-of-the-art healthcare, educational, and research capabilities that serve millions of citizens annually.
The visit was attended by Dr. Omar Sherif Omar, Secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals; Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Amani Osama, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Rami Maher Ghaly, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Saleheen, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ain Shams National University; Dr. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Dr. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Dr. Hesham Anwar, Director of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital; Dr. Yasser Megahed, Director of the University's Engineering Consultancy Center; and Dr. Hesham El-Ghazaly, Director of the MASRI Center for Medical Research.
